CARE AND SUPPORT FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

As a private, online school, CMASAS provides a personalized educational experience designed to support each student’s unique learning style. Our approach to instructional support is individualized to help every learner succeed.

At the elementary level, instructional support is primarily provided by the student’s Personalized Education Coach (PEC), who also serves as the instructor for all core subjects and most electives. If a student chooses to take a foreign language, they will be paired with a dedicated language instructor.

Parent involvement is essential to student success in the elementary years. Together, you and your child will work closely with the PEC to navigate course content, complete projects, and build essential academic skills. The younger the student, the more active a parent’s role will be in supporting daily learning activities.

PECs provide consistent guidance, instructional oversight, and encouragement to both students and parents. They also help manage and adjust the student’s Personalized Education Plan (PEP) to ensure it continues to meet the student’s evolving needs and academic goals.

Personalized Support from Your PEC

At CMASAS, every elementary student is supported by a Personalized Education Coach (PEC)—a dedicated educator who works one-on-one with students to create a Personalized Education Plan (PEP) tailored to their needs, learning style, and academic goals.

PECs fulfill two key roles: mentor/advisor and teacher.

As mentors, PECs work closely with families to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and pace of learning. They help students develop organizational skills, time management strategies, and plan their courses effectively. The goal is to build academic confidence while fostering independence over time.

As teachers, PECs guide students through subject-specific content. They reinforce and expand on the asynchronous curriculum, grade assignments, and provide personalized feedback to support growth. Feedback is a critical instructional tool—helping students master concepts and stay on track.

PEC support also extends to parents, especially at the elementary level. We view the parent-PEC relationship as a co-educator partnership. PECs offer guidance, insight, and encouragement to help families feel confident and equipped in their support role.

Personalization is at the heart of what we do. PECs work with students and parents to modify coursework when needed, ensuring each student can access the material in a way that works for them—and demonstrate mastery in a meaningful way.

Elementary PECs meet with students one-on-one at least once per week, with parents typically joining the session. They also host a weekly live homeroom where students can connect socially through games, collaborative activities, and school announcements.

CMASAS offers a flexible online learning environment where students can progress at their own pace with consistent support. With their PEC’s guidance, students are empowered to succeed academically—and thrive as confident, capable learners.
